Desert Festival of Jaisalmer
The four-day event various cultural performances, processions and competitions. It was organised by Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan.
The festival kicked off with a magnificent procession that started at Gandhi Chowk in Pokharan on February 6. The local artists presented folk dance and music during the procession. Various fund activities such as tug of war, ‘mataka daud (run)’, kabbadi and drawing competition were organized on the first day fo the festival.
The highlights of Jaisalmer Desert Festival 2020 were be Ghoomar dance, turban tying competition, moustache competition, mister and miss desert among others.
Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand visited the Indian Military Academy
Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand visited the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun to strengthen engagement and defence cooperation between the two countries.
Princess Sirindhorn has also been an instructor and teaches history at Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy (CRMA).

WHO extends emergency status of Ebola in DR Congo
The UN health agency extended its global emergency designation for the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo
WHO downgraded the national and regional risk of the disease from very high to high, while it kept the global risk at low.
The Ebola virus is passed on by contact with the blood, body fluids, secretions or organs of an infected or recently deceased person.
IRCTC’s third privately run train
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) on Wednesday said its third corporate train ‘Kashi Mahakal Express’, between Varanasi and Indore will begin commercial operations from February 20.
The train will connect Jyotirlinga-Omkareshwar (near Indore), Mahakaleshwar (Ujjain) and Kashi Vishwanath (Varanasi), besides connecting the industrial and educational hub of Indore and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.

Major Ports Authority Bill 2020
Major Ports Authority Bill 2020 will replace the existing regulations under a 1963 law.
The new law will have have private players and public private partnership (PPP) model.
The 12 major ports in India would get a boost through the new law.
